I was always told that the true test of flu was that if someone dropped a £50 notes (adjusted for age and inflation) beside your bed (note, bed. If you had flu that's where you'd be) then you wouldn't be able or inclined to get up and pick it up.
Anything less than this is a touch of a cold or food poisoning! HTH! x
