Default Sbk2011!

Anyone else getting it? My copy arrived today, £24.99 from GAME *spits*.

I love the series, it just gets better and better, unfortunately I didn't have time to do anything except drool at the box before going to work. However, it looks like the create-a-rider and career mode are back, along with the three classes of bikes.

Now I just need to hurry and finish the last two seasons of my career in SBK X...

I really want to get a motorbike racing game, never owned or played one. Have you compared to motogp? Which one's the 'gran turismo' for bikes?

Gran Turismo for bikes is Tourist Trophy on the PS2, still.

Haven't compared to the MotoGP games, those have been up and down in quality a lot in the last few years, I think they're at a bit of a low ebb at the moment. Milestone are pretty good at putting out demos of the SBK games, have a look (don't know what system you've got) and see if there's one you can try.

I prefer SBK not just because they're better programmed but because they've got real bikes as opposed to the custom-built racers of MotoGP... yes, being Rossi or Lorenzo is cool but so is picking between Blades and R1s.

I've been playing SBK11 on PC on and off round a friends house for about 3 or 4 weeks now. I didn't realise it hadn't come out yet (he got a pirate copy) I really like it. The graphics and physics have improved since the last one IMO, especially in Full Simulation mode. I play with an Xbox 360 Controller and I find the First Person view is much better - it doesn't lay you on the floor every time you move the thumbstick left or right slightly. The 'Legends' class is my favourite as you get to play as Foggy and his 996 among others. I haven't played it online as the pirate copy doesn't allow it but the game is worth it for the Single Player alone.

Got this for xbox yesterday. I haven't played a previous one. I like it so far, find the edges of the track a bit hard to see at times, scenery a bit bland (actually, I'd chosen Salt Lake City at random and that seems about the blandest! Donington is quite nice, green, changes of elevation), and find the rider POV too difficult. Just getting to grips with it, it's decent. The presentation is good - menus etc are designed well to avoid unecessary faffing around*. The English is a bit ropey in places. I was a bit disappointed the the Nurburgring isn't the full thing but I guess what they have in the game matches the SBK race? I too would love a bike GT.. Imagine racing a customized SV around laguna seca, or the ring.. Ooh they could have the IOM circuit too!
* You have to come out of time trial mode and into XBox live mode to see the online leaderboards and download a timetrial ghost - that's a bit rubbish. On the whole the ghost thing needs development - you can only have one ghost per track & class, and you can't race against a ghost that was set at a different difficulty level, so if you want to race a ghost that's just a little faster than you, you're forced to use a lower difficulty setting (at least until people start uploading full sim ghosts with slow times.. the top full sim times just leave me for dead so far!).

Time trial laps:
Circuit......... | Class | Bike.... | Setting.. | Online record | Time...
Donington....... | WSS.. | CBR600RR | full, man | 1'26.89...... | 1'35.46
Donington....... | WSS.. | CBR600RR | med, man. | 1'34.03...... | 1'34.03 (currently top of the med/wss tt leaderboard, fwiw!)
Salt Lake City.. | WSS.. | CBR600RR | med, man. | 1'43.63...... | 1'53.63

Tourist trophy was supposed to be the GT of bikes but ill be honest, it was ****. Customisation of bikes was just a performance exhaust, that's it. Handling was also VERY poor, it would low side at any time.

I aint played a bike race game since Motogp 09 (think it was 09), it was good but they can get dull. I liked that you started out on an uncompetitive bike and fitted it out. What I didn't like was that in simulation mode you would crash all the time just to try and keep with the back runners because the bike was **** or you'd brake a fraction too early and 25 bikes would ram you into the dirt, and carry on as though nothing happened... Dont suppose there is any of this in SBK 2011?

Haven't done much racing in it yet - I always tend to prefer squeezing out faster and faster laps in time trials in race games, dunno why, it's just me vs me I guess, no AI to smash into you on the last corner! It's a very intense game tho - you have to learn the tracks, and lose concentration at any point and you're going to fluff your lap, and in full sim mode probably end up on your ass. It seems less frustrating than other bike games I've played though - when you fall, it feels like it was your fault.

@Daveo2010: If you want scenery and elevation changes, Brno is the best track. It's pretty fast too. The slightly broken English is part of the charm for me.

@ThEGr33k: In SBK X at least (I'm sure 2011 is the same but I still haven't had a chance yet, plowing through my final career in X as fast as I can) you could choose between several levels of simulation difficulty, in Simulation Low you could throw the bike around without worrying too much. You can save all but the worst lines around corners and if you have a close encounter with another rider sometimes you both come off, sometimes only one, sometimes neither but your guy makes an angry gesture!

I played SBKX which was pretty awesome and much better thank MotoGP 08/09 in my opinion. Both on full simulation SBK just seemed more involved and more real i guess.

MotoGP10/11 career mode is great. Something about hiring and firing engineers/press officers and introducing new bits between races and looking for sponsorship keeps me playing it. Its a bit arcady at times but the racings good and fast on severe. Am yet to play SBK11 but will get it soon.
