Idle Banter For non SV and non bike related chat (and the odd bit of humour - but if any post isn't suitable it'll get deleted real quick).![]() |

To the copper in the unmarked Ford mini mpv that gave me a twinkle on their rear blues yesterday whilst I was 'making progress' through traffic on the M6 northbound near Wigan on the way home.
They could easily have waited for me to pass them, then have a word, however the 'quick flash' was sufficient to highlight my apparent ease of passage and allow me to maintain a constant road position. So, well done and thank you for giving me the opportunity to improve my journey in more ways than a private chat at the roadside may have. |

Just goes to show that most policemen are decent human beings (and possibly bikers themselves to boot). Like most groups, it's the few bad apples that give everyone a bad name.

I get on quite well with the local law enforcement types. Quite a few of them ride bikes and know me from various bike shops and meets - I also find life is so much easier if you have the right attitude when stopped.
Maybe this is why I still have a clean licence yet ride like a tw*t most of the time. |

I must admit that since getting pulled by the Rozzers a while back I have been a little more aware of cars in my mirrors!
For anyone passing through Somerset, look out for a Black Range Rover that looks a bit sparkly. That sparkle will be the lights in the grill and the smile of the Copper driving up your exhaust pipe when you are naughty! |

Yup, like Fridge says, they are human. If you are doing something wrong, then accept the consequenses if you get pulled.
I had the same thing a few years ago. 2.30am coming home from work, big long straight, "making progress" & saw some headlights in my rear view mirrors, didnt think anything about it until a quick flash of the Blues slowed me down. When I got to a roundabout the Policeman pulled up by the side of me, waved & went on his way.

Seen an unmarked Audi Q7 in Guildford recently...now THAT was spangly. Blues and twos were all flishy-flashy and even though I was doing less than the speed limit I still crapped myself...does that say something about my riding? :P

Saw the rovers once in some kind of exercise all in convoy, was well jealous, and the vito was very unexpected! Good on that copper though, he did more good than if he'd stopped you, as you slowed plus had a little, more respect for the men/women in blue. Last edited by phil24_7; 23-05-11 at 05:59 PM. |
