I haven't used my Tom Tom home before as I had some issues getting it to dock, but tried it again last night cos I want to start using TYRE and it needs Tom Tom home to work.
Anyway, it updated my unit, but said there wasn't enough room for the update and suggested some things to save onto my pc to free up some space, I unchecked a few things inc one of my maps as I wanted that to stay in there. Did the update, but now I only have my GB plus major routes of europe, I have lost my full uk postcode map, which I use all the time for getting to customers houses, which has really pi55ed me off. I have searched my back up on my pc, everything else is on there but this map, I have even searched my entire HD but found nothing. Does anyone have a reasonably updated full uk postcode map I can 'lend' ? As I already own this, it's not copyright infringing or anything. I don't wanna pay £40 for another map as my old one was fine. Cheers |

blimey..
No idea, have you tried restoring the machine? When I ran out of space I shoved an SD card in it as I didn't like the idea of taking stuff off it. Hope you can sort it.. |

Your welcome to any data you need off my TomTom Rider, but we'd need to know which file in particular you are missing.
Does yours use internal memory, or does it use an SD card? You might be able to buy a bigger SD card and load all your maps, including the ones you are missing onto a new card that has the space for it all. A 4GB SD card should cost nowt in Tesco. I don't use TomTom Home to use Tyre on my Rider BTW. I save the itinerary file directly from Tyre, onto the 'ITN' folder on my TomTom memory, via the USB cable, it shows up as a removable disk like a USB stick. Don't know if you can do the same or not, the Rider is my only experience of TomTom's. I'm working at home today, if you need any IT type help, call me. Or pop over for a coffee if you don't have a job on, and you can plug my Rider into your laptop. Last edited by -Ralph-; 27-05-11 at 08:01 AM. |

PS: I also have an 8GB and a 32GB SD card here you could try restoring to in TomTom Home before going out and buying a new one.

Thanks Col, I'm not sure rider maps will work tbh, I normally use my Tomtom the same way and do it through my card reader like you said.
Are your maps in a zip file with loads of files inside? I used TYRE the other day and it said you needed Tomtom home, when I looked at the file through explorer it showed it as a tyre file not a .itn file so didn't think you could do it that way. |

I have a folder called maps with a file called Europe_West.tlv
And I have a folder called Zip (but this isn't a compressed/zipped folder) with files great_britain.postal great_britainpostal.ver nederland.postal nederlandpostal.ver In TYRE I go File -> New and the map page opens. I do my route, I get it to 'Calculate' then in the map window, I go File -> Save As then in the Save As: dropdown menu choose TomTom Itinerary Files, give it a filename, then I save this to the itn folder on my TomTom. In TomTom menu, it's then Itinerary Planning -> Load Itinerary and choose the file name from the list. I don't go near TomTom Home software. I assume you could just save directly to the itn folder on your SD card. Last edited by -Ralph-; 27-05-11 at 12:56 PM. |

The great britain postal is the kind of thing I need.
My map folder says zip, then has about 7 files in it. |
