Default Kindness of strangers!

Well as per my previous thread I stupidly ran out of petrol due to forgetting my cash card at home.
Pushed the bike a couple miles only for a random biker to turn around and pull up by me to ask if I was OK.

I explained it was fine and I was just out of petrol and was going a few more yards to my office car park.
He offered to run to a petrol station for me but I explained I forgot my cash card which is why I couldn't top up myself.

He tells me not to worry about it and goes off and comes back with a Jerry can full of petrol!
Absoute life saver, gotta love bikers and the kindness of strangers.
Turns out he works a few minutes from me and is a regular at Ace, will be sorting him out a few beers in thanks and may have made a new friend.

Absolutly made my day and worth pushing a bike 3 miles through rush hour london traffic for =p

Must admit I've stopped a few times when ive seen bikes stopped in lay-bys or pushing their bikes, probably wouldn't do it for a car driver.

I pulled over to a lay-by once with a guy looking at his bike, he'd just stopped for a break lol

There is defo a 'family' ( if thats the right word) attitude in the biking world.

I like the familly analogy and that was this guys opion, "I hate to see other bikers stuck, I've been there before!"
Likewise I've stopped for someone who had stopped on the M1 but got waved on with an "Nah i'm fine" and again for someone who i saw in my wing mirror behind me go butt surfing taking a very slippery corner, again he waved me on with i'm ok no harm done and a sheepish grin on his face.

Thinking about it I did the same with the guy who stopped for me and if he wasn't so insistant I'd still be stuck, odd how people are sometimes too polite to ask for help...
I'll be sure to be the persistant type next time

I had a scooter rider offer help once when I ran out of fuel (waved him on as I was only 300 yards from a petrol station, it was a nice light 125 and I was bloody cold and needed to warm up). I will always offer stop and help cars because they are quite often in the way and a danger to other road users (be they bikes or cars).

I'll now try and stop more for fellow bikers in need - treat them as you'd like to be treated and all that! Glad you had a friend out there, sod pushing a bike in london, walking through it is bad enough!

i had a biker priest give me some petrol in shirley, on the stratford road/high street shops area.

he sent his wife home to get the red plastic can, came back, went to offer the guy money and he said "oh no, dont be silly, we bikers need all the help we can get, how many cagers went past without even looking at you eh?" AND he didnt try preaching about jeebus to me or anything, bloody nice guy

Awww, isn't it nice to know that despite the image of bikers being burly tough and thuggish that actually, we are lovely, friendly and helpful.

So when you next see a huge man mountain, covered in tattoos and riding a stupidly loud bike, go and give him a hug, he will appreciate it!
