Default Hip protection

Hi all. Please forgive my noobness! Bought a k3 fully faired 650 today, happy days! I managed to wangle a 1 piece Frank Thomas XTI suit. Not the best I know, but not bad to get me started. I tried on a couple of suits at the local bike shop, more expensive ones, and they had hip plates. My suit's got shoulder/elbow/back etc..... So without waffling anymore, can you get retrofit hip plates to fit any suit underneath, or under garments to protect the hips? Sorry again for my noobness. Test next week.... Thanks in advance.

Have a look inside the lining where you want the armour to go, if there is a pocket there you can fit armour, simples. Hein gericke sell it.

If not, motocross shorts have hip and thigh protection.

Hi Jackie. Yes, there's a pocket either side, about the size of my hand. Also, i've noticed a larger pocket on the back, with basically a 8mm thick bit of foam in. Is there something on the market more substantial, that just fits in? Thanks again.

Yeah mate, you will be wanting to get a proper back protector in there as soon as possible or possibly even better a separate wearable back protector which i believe offers a little more protection but is a little more hassle and usually more pricey.

I'll happily opt for more hassle and save my back. Thanks for your help. Oh, one more thing... My rear tyres gonna need replacing soon. Any suggestions on a good all rounder? Anything upto £120 mark?

Tyres are a very personal thing like, I've had bridgestone 021s, 016s, 012s and continental road attacks on my bikes.

I personally really liked the road attacks for feel and the 021s were very hard wearing. The 012s and 016s were even better but soft and wear out fast!

If its for an SV any sport touring tyre will be fine unless you are doing track days. Check out the tyre section, that should confuse you well and truly!!

I would actually be happy using an ST tyre on track, you can't go quite as mad, but the learning and the fun is still very much there. Sometimes even more so.
