Hi,
Work are sending me to Katowice at the end of the month to train some Polish staff, and I wanted to know if there are any good motorbike shops, places to eat etc. Cheers |

Had a week in Szczecin the other week, had a good time, cheap beer & good food.
Doesn't help you much I know. Plenty of fast food carp, but we searched and found plenty of good places to eat. In fact we went back to the same steak house 2 nights running. My impression of Poland was it was very similar to the old East Germany.

Indeed, very cheap but not many people speak English away from the big towns. I don't remember eating anything nice though. One top tip, they mark the public bogs with a triangle and a circle. Triangle is for blokes, circle for birds, no idea why.

Can't help much either I'm afraid, haven't really been to Katowice other that passing through, and I got into biking once I moved here.
The guys you'll be working with should give you all the info you need. If you can get a day off try to head to Krakow, only 60 miles away ![]() |

Krakow's supposed to have some good nightlife, but many of the bars/clubs are in basements so all you see at street level is a door. Some of my mates went there for a stag weekend and majorly failed to realise this beforehand. Locals will put you right as Dyz says.

I've just asked one of our Polish engineers what it was like.
He smiled at me, started laughing and said. " It is a ****hole". Apparently a big mining area until the industry collapsed like others in the 80's. There are still working mines but there are more derelict than working. High rise blocks, old factories, gloomy grey city. I asked him to compare it with a UK city and he said he didn't think that there was anything like it in the UK, but maybe Sheffield. ![]() |
