Default Recommend me bike insurers & breakdown cover

I know theres others threads but i want to cut the chase and get the bike sorted for this weekend. Atm both the 'cages' have breakdown cover with green flag at £53.00 each. I have basic breakdown cover included with a 'extras' type bank account. I haven't checked out wether this covers the bike but it's very basic & i dont expect it to be up to much as far as the bike goes.

The bikes been off the road for approx 3 years so ive lost my no claims of approx 3 years , I was previously insured with h&r (insurance 2000?) so it might be worth me going back to them.

I am with Carole Nash. I specifically checked and their roadside recovery will recover me after an accident and back home. Many will only recover to the nearest repairer and for breakdown only. They were also competitive for insurance. But need to be told they have a price to beat.

dont know about insurance but if you are paying 2 breakdown covers and need another for the bike then i would suggest putting them all together and getting personal breakdown cover. i pay about £120 for the wife and i but that includes everything. with personal cover you are covred should you break down in/on any vehicle and not just your own.

Footman James. I payed £120 fully comp with free European and UK breakdown recovery. They'll recover back to your home or to a repairer depending on what you want.

Is there a search service for bike insurance these days? eg. moneysupermarket? - this would help me to be armed with quote prices if i need to get quotes from insurers who dont use these services!

You really need to read the small print when it comes to recovery policies. Very difficult to compare.
Bikeinsurer etc should be able to do a trawl of major insurers

I'm with CN as well. Can't fault their breakdown recovery or the quality of the guys in their workshop.

I did get stung with a replacement vehicle after my off, thinking that CN were sending me a replacement vehicle under the terms of my insurance, however it transpired it was a 3rd party company who were not linked to CN and their costs had to be reclaimed by the person who hit me. If they had not have been insured or hadn't admitted liability (eventually) then I would have been hit with a scary bill I think.

Got a quote from hastings direct which came out top at the bike insurer. remember i had no claims bonus years to put in!
£152.99 total to pay. £200 xs- or £45.92 deposit 11x11.35. No added breakdown cover which i realise having it seperate will be for the best as next year i can amalgimate it with the car cover in the house. MCE are one of the insurers who add it onto the policy quotes ive had but ive read that it's basic and they will call you back after a week to try and get more money from you to up the standard of cover. Con.

Also, this is a bike that was rebuilt so hopefully it is sorted with no other mishaps. The thing that bothers me is if the bike does have another 'issue' will i be losing out by paying it in full? if i cancel it at some point wont it just be a 30.00 fee? and the rest of it i dont have to pay it in this scenario?

Ive also read the apr can be very high on paying it up!
