I know there is some difference between the radiators on the different pointy models, but what does it really boil down to. Is there any major differences between them, as ronayers says they have the same part number, but ebay sellers seem to have the K3 and K4 grouped and then the K5+ as a separate entity. Is it just simply the bracketry, or are the mounts acctually different, I assume that the hoses all join in the same places as well.
I am mainly asking as after a knock with an uninsured driver my radiator is very much banana shape, and am looking to replace, and cant really afford a brand new one....so any suggestions gladly accepted. |

i think the k3/4 models had a slightly wider radiator than the k5+ but i think all the pipework fits the same, i had to replace mine and found they were like rocking horse poo so had to stump up the cash for a new one

mmmm interesting, may be worth some serious investigation as pointy rads appear to be as rare as rocking horse s**t

Curvy radiator is significantly larger so doubt it a straight replacement.

I fitted a used SV1000 rad to my 650K3 because I couldn't find a used 650K3 one anywhere for anything approaching sensible money. Pipework all matched up but I had to make a new bracket for the lower mounting. Unfortunately I could only find one from a faired model so the filler neck was a bit odd. All the fan mounts had to be fabricated because the fan is on the other side on a 1000 and it wouldn't fit where I needed it to - took me a few nights of toil in the garage getting that right. The bloke I sold it to had a car sideswipe him a few weeks after buying the bike from me, and luckily the SV1000 rad was replaced with a brand new 650K3 one by the car driver's insurance company.
