got a set of these on the GSXR front end on my bike and have now done 3.5k so i thought i would post up some findings.
good bit i paired them with a set of EBC HH pads and they are ace in the dry and much more breaking power that the SV actually needs. bad bit i was out in torrential rain yesterday and have found that they don't like it. the bite had gone and it took quite a while for the pads to clear the water off the discs. the feeling was like going from nice freshly serviced brakes to ones that were needing a service. ok so they stopped me but i had to adjust my breaking distances quite considerably. i had encountered the loss of feel in the brakes before in normal rain and it wasn't that bad (actually i quite liked it) but yesterday was horrid. |

Bib the rain yesterday was shocking, most peoples brake will have been the same. Mine were 1.5 times normal distance for safety
Did you try pulsing the brakes to help clear the water?

yup. don't get me wrong they stopped me but compared to my gsxr k1-2 front end i had on my last bike with OEM discs it was a looooot worse. i think it might be due to the lack of iron as the blackshadow ones are SS so don't heat up as quick.
good news is that Storms are feckin superb in a monsoon the wetter it got the better they got ![]() |

That is a shame about the discs. I ain't out major.
I will always say OEM's are good until you warp or wear them out. Another one for the storms camp, I wonder if a storm front and Roadsmart rear would work ![]()

Mostly true for OEM but the Black shadow rear disc I've got is very good. This seems to have more bite at higher speeds with same pads as previous, but it is only a rear.

I think it is heat in pads, when clot cold like after a long, soggy Mway jaunt they're sh*t, get them warm and by the bottom of the slip road you've got brakes again. The vesrah pads are even worse for that, but get them hot and they'll splatter your eyeballs through the vents in your helmet so worth the tradeoff!

I would say thats normal.
I have never had aftermarket discs that are as good as OE on initial bite in the wet. More holes in the OE is my guess. Blackshadows and EBC's on my bikes. Funnily enough I got caught out too at the weekend in a torrential downpour and some temp traffic lights caught us out and I finished braking a few meters from where I would have liked to have been. Twas Blackshadows on their own make pads. I will be looking forward to changing to my usual EBC pads as I hope they will improve the all round performance. |

A good working example would be Berlin's first minitwin. The pads were Ferodo CP211's and they had almost no bite cold, get heat in them and the braking zone was 20 meters after everyone with performance friction pads (which get hotter alot quicker).

hhhhmmmm. think i might have a look at the EBC organics. only reason i got the HH was life span as they are harder. had a set of goldfren on the last bike that lasted about 3000 before i threw them away as they were throwing dust everywhere.
