Default I'm in a state of rubber shock!

I need a new front tyre - and have long been reporting on my experiences - but I am shocked!!!

I bought the SV new - with D220s fitted. This is the list of tyres I have bought:

Rear tyre
  • D220 lasted 8,000 miles
  • Z6 lasted 12,000 miles
  • Road Attack lasted 12,000 miles
  • Road Attack lasted 16,500 miles
So far I am impressed

Front Tyre
  • D220 Lasted 8,000 miles
  • Z6 lasted 12,000 miles
  • Road Attack lasted 32,500 miles

SHOCK!!!!!
The front is now legal minimum and has lost grip - not bloody surprised!!!

I think I'll grab myself another!! (and yes the bike has done 52,500 miles - had it serviced at the garage for the second time in its life)

Service history:
  • Oil change every 4,500 miles
  • Oil filter every 9,000
  • Air filter every 20,000
  • Plugs every 20,000
  • new ignition barrel at 25,000 when original failed
  • new wiring loom under tank at 30,000 after small fire
  • replaced a corroded oil feeder pipe at 45,000 after major oil dump on motorway
  • a couple of headlamp bulbs once can't remember when though

Plugs at 20,000? I thought they had to be changed a bit sooner (although not as soon as the book says!)

What did the plugs look like after 20,000 miles?

Thats some tyre life btw, what sort of riding do you do?

Plugs don't look as bad as you may think - they were replaced because I got nervous!!!

My 1st set of plugs were not changed until 16k service and that was by the dealer.

That is some serious tyre wear! You must ride like soooooo gentle n smooth. Good skills.

Interesting. I've tended to do my plugs every other oil service, which is about 9000 miles or once a year. Might leave them a little longer

Oh yes.Good forward vision means no hard braking.Hence great front wear.I bet you get good fuel economy too???
