Default Brake Pads and Servicing Brakes?

Well the front brake pads have worn out on the bike, I need to get some new pads. I did have a web site where I got them before off, since then I have a new computer and lost that web site address. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good web site.

I have changed the pads before, the only thing I was thinking was that the bike is is an 07 and done near 24k miles. Do I need to doing anything more than clean everything and put the pads in? I haven't had any problems with the brakes since I have had the bike.

I currently have the EBC Organic pads in, will changing to sintered pads make much difference. I use the bike for everything if that makes a difference. Thanks

For what its worth, I have only ever used 'ordinary' organic pads, not gone to HH/sintered race types becasue I am not riding on track & therefore, don't believe I need them.
Have always managed to stop so far....... usually buy mine of wemoto or from fleabay, you takes your money & pays your price but like tyres I think any named reputable brand is better than I am rider so.......

Don't get carried away and decide to give the brakes a proper good clean like I did - after 2 days of popping out various pistons by accident and spilling brake fluid all over my garage floor, I'm now almost back to the point where I've got a couple of sticky pistons that need sorting out.

I just buy what ever is on the shelf or in stock at the 'on-line' store... Normally the cheapest and standard. I'm sure there is a reason for all the pad types but at the end of the day it make little or no difference to the way I ride and stop. I find keeping them clean and serviced is more important then fussing about types and such.

I'm due for new pads too. Lever is getting a tad close to the bar when squeezed hard and the fluid level has dropped quite a bit! I have a bit left on them but with the upcoming track day and AR I dont want to run out of pad during either sooo...new EBH HH pads for about £48 off the bay of e.

I have HH currently and I think they are "fine".

Will fit this weekend. Probably wont due a full caliper service though as I did mine not long ago, same with fluid.

Have you fully checked the depth of the pads as the lever getting close may have nothing to do with the pads, it might be that the fluid is shot. Don't assume its just the pads. If you are doing the AR and track day you don't want any fading if things get hot and shot fluid will go off quicker on a track day.

Yeah, I've checked. Current pads are wearing tad thin imo.

Saying that I'm no mechanic, I'm just looking at the pads with the caliper in situ and think they are a tad thin for my liking, esp compared to the new pads.

Fluid was changed only a few k miles ago along with a full service of the front and rear calipers, so I'd assume the fluid is fine.

When I change them I'll measure the new + old pads with a vernier and post up the results, along with some pics if I manage to remember the camera. Can't believe how shiny shiny the new pads are

I always liked Ferodo "black" pads, used to get them cheap, but they last well and give good braking, enough to stoppie a Bandit anyway.

OK great, its just one of those things to look out for... as I've seen it few time on my own bike.

Indeed. And it'll be a good experience for me as well to see how far out my judgement is on wearing pads!
