Morning All
I know there is a lot about camera's on this forum but I have a direct answer would be good. I have been asked by my MD to source a good quality DSLR for taking pictures on site of finished work and I have a budget of 700 - £1000. However.. When I subcontracted my brother to do the pictures for us last time, he needed at least two lenses in order to take the pictures of the kind of construction we do, I know one was a fish eye / wide angle of some description. Can any one advise on a bundle of gear which fits the bill as this is one area I don't know a lot about. urs... clueless of ipswich. |

Try looking at these, you should get some decent bundles or Pentax K7....rugged camera http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.208-1356.aspx?utm_source=GoogleShopping&utm_medium=GSF _NormalFeed&utm_campaign=GSF_TescoDirect&utm_conte nt=208-1356 or cheaper here http://www.bristolcameras.co.uk/p-pe...n-lens-kit.htm cheaper still here http://www.jacobsdigital.co.uk/p-373...5e861535e0cde& If you use Jacobs you can get 3% quidco back too. Ahem, you can use my link below to sign up. You can use the rest of your budget on memory cards, bags, flash gun, tripod etc to suit your work. You might be able to haggle a decent deal. That price range, you'll not get a wide angle if you are doing inside architecture, Nikon 7000(semi-pro and robust) very good for low light work with a vr zoom 18/55 your looking at most of the budget gone, a good wide fix/zoom you'll be looking at least extra 450£/650£. Again Nikon d5100 is a good body without the bells and whistles far cheaper than d7000 but not as robust. No experience of other makes. But looking about the price ranges arn't alot different between manufacturers when buying new, Parks are good dealers and Amazon can have some good deals.

another Nikon user, and would agree with stormingjoe - the 7000 would be the best camera, but would eat right into the budget, you can get a d7000 with 18-105 kit lens for about £1000, but to be honest, i think you are going over kill for what you are after. I would go for something much more budget. like the D5100 or even the D3100 save the money on teh body and spend more on teh lens'. the 3100 is about as cheap as you can get for a nikon DSLR (it is what i am running at the moment) and yes i am now starting to see a few limitations in its functions, but if all you are doing is taking pics of work for a web site or something like that, it will tick all the boxes. the limits i am seeing, it i would like it to perfom better at higher ISO settings, i would like it to be able to shoot more frames per second etc etc. not the sort of thing that you will need so much.
Another good web site is www.camerapricebuster.com not going to help with what camera, but will help with finding the best price. Last edited by Jimmy2Feet; 20-07-11 at 03:09 PM. |

Personally, I'm very happy with my Sony A390 and cheap Sigma 70-300mm lens

*Coughs into hand*
Canon 500D or 550D with std twin lens kit (18-55 & 55-250mm) and if your bos can scrape to a litte extra you should be able to get a 10-20mm Sigma Lens Canon is better value than the Nikno stable so for work would fit the bill. Camera with 18-55 + 55-250 http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-...enses/p1519451 Camera with 18-105 http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-...-lens/p1519450 10mm 'fish eye' type lens. Nice and fast so good without flash for indoor work. http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-...n-fit/p1024105 Breaks the budget a little but not much and covers 90% of your requirements. |
