The spring? Definitely. The lid? If it got whacked hard enough to make other bits of you ache, its' probably worth considering a new one.

Ouch, by the way. Hope it isn't too painful

Do you neck and shoulder ache from the impact from the garage door, or as a result of your reaction to it hitting you, ie: you snapping your head back? For the door to have hit your head hard enough to have damaged the helmet you would have been knocked clean off your feet in my view. If it's just a scratch I wouldn't be to bothered, but take the lining out and check inside if it bothers you. One of the main reasons you should replace the helmet after a crash (at least one where you have banged your head) is because the impact compresses the padding inside (what it's designed to do) so it's effectiveness is reduced for next time. This is very unlikely to have happened if the helmet was just given a sharp blow, it needs your head to be moving and the helmet stopped to do it.

OK well im going to pop to the pysio as its so stiff this morning i cant move my neck or arm fully!
Looking at the damage its took asmall chunk out the shell so im chucking it, and getting a new door with no springs in it!
You never think that doors need mantance.

Old fashioned doors like the Henderson Dolphin with the long spring on each side are prone to going snap with no notice once a decade or more old. Mine did but luckliy I was not under it at the time. You can easily get new ones for not much dosh and they will last ages until the metal fatigue gets to them. Cheaper than a new door.

Sorry to hear about the whack and soreness of course...
