For the last couple of weeks I have been noticing a strange sensation at the tip of my right index finger every now and then. It keeps on feeling hot, almost burning for no apparent reason whether I am touching something or not. It isn't hot to the touch either!
Any ideas? |

It could be for no reason whatsoever and a benign neuropathic pain that will fade with time. I think it would be a good idea to see your doc so he can check your blood sugar levels to exclude the possibility of diabetes.
Are you experiencing any other symptoms such as blurred vision, thirst, weight loss? Have you had this before? Have you changed anything with regards to your biking (jacket/gloves/motorcycle/lengthier journeys etc?) or any sport related activities? Last edited by thulfi; 25-10-11 at 04:21 PM. |

Cycling 100+ miles a week recently rather than motorised transport - only noticeable change in lifestyle.

Cycling is well known for damaging nerves in the hands. Make sure that your gloves are a good fit, are warm enough and have enough padding, check your grips/bar tape to make sure that there are no thin bits that could cause a pressure point. Then check position of your controls to ensure that you are maintaining the correct angle for your fingers to work at strength and not risk a damaged tendon.
If that does not cure it, see your GP for advice, you could have some nerve damage that needs looking at. |
