Default Glencoe Massacre rallying cry

So, in a little over 7 months our very own Chucca will be leading a band of some of the best company through some of the finest roads in the most stunningly beautiful part of the country.

The main GM thread has had well over 1000 views yet to date, there's about 18-20ish names on the attendance thread (excluding mine, cos I'm a pain in the ass to try and organise around but I'll be there!).

So, to the hundreds of you that have looked but not made that final decision to say 'b*llocks to it - it'll be a long ride up on the Friday, but let's get Scotland DONE this year' - what's stopping you?

Dunno Jamesyboy - it's a long way to get there! - Break the trip up with an overnighter somewhere en-route, take the scenic roads and avoid the motorway - noone's said you HAVE to beast it up to Kinlochleven on the Friday after work. Treat yourselves, book the Friday off and make a long weekend of it.

I'm new here / I won't know anyone - We've all been there at some point. Assuming you're doing it alone, and not bringing a mate/tagging onto one of the ride-ups, let me tell you how it'll work.

You'll arrive at the hotel, probably still wondering what the feck you're doing a gazillion miles away from home to sit around with a bunch of folk you've never met. One of the guys at the hotel will check you in, probably have a bit of a chat with you and send you off to get scrubbed up. Within 30 seconds of taking your tentative first steps into the bar, someone in a Black/White T-Shirt with 'Org printed on it will say 'Hi', offer you a seat (and a beer if you're lucky), ask how the ride up was, and maybe even ask who you are. Give it half an hour and you'll probably feel like you've known them for years - they're a proper friendly bunch.

Next day you'll probably think about bottling out of the ride-out - give yourself a slap, this is why you're here! You won't be too slow (or too fast) for the run - you can ride at your own pace and with any luck the person ahead of you will be waiting at the junction to let you know where to go. Unless your name is Dave (*ahem... Essex/Puny) you won't get lost - especially near Oban.

At the end of the day, which I bet you a pint that you won't have ridden through anything better, spent riding your motorbike through breathtaking scenery you'll wander back into the local pub for a bite to eat, a pint of something real and a live band to watch.

Give me a better way to spend a weekend than that.

Man up, ask the boss nicely for the Friday off and get yourself booked in. I'll bet you another pint you won't regret it.

Is Dave Preston going to be there - it may be that not knowing either way is putting people off?

And now anyone new reading this who hasn't met Dave Preston will be wondering if it's a case of 'I'll only go if he's there' or 'I'll only go if he's not there'.

Well as we aren't having a TOGMIE in 2015 I've not got a lot of excuse not to make the trip this year. I just need to find someone to travel up with.

As for never riding through anything better - what rubbish James - have you never done the A12 Chelmsford to Ipswich?!

Don't listen to Mio - it's all rubbish up here, had a look at the A12 Chelmsford to Ipswich - we have nothing that comes anywhere close to that epic stretch of blacktop !!!

If you are from Englanshire please press back space now and don't read any more

No honest, go !!!

Jamesmio - SHUT THE HELL UP !!!! We don't really want them to know how bloody awesome it is up here??? If they actually do find out, we'll never git rid of them, every year having to drag themselves up here. Plus it's cruel, don't tease them.

I've ridden Scotlandshire roads, rubbish compared to Gods own road the A12.

As the song goes "These 2 lanes will take us anywhere"

I'm very pleased to report that some Scottish A roads have but one single lane with some grass down the middle, which you have to share with sheep and cattle plus the odd haggis.
Cannot wait

Unless you are in anything bigger than a goldwing then the road from chelmo to the Orwell bridge is a bloody hoot!

My god imagine the sort of shout out the GM would get if I paid James. Thanks for the big pitch. I can't wait for this GM, I think it's gonna be a good un this year.
