Default SV650 rattling on acceleration

I've had my SV650 for about 3 weeks now. She's a K6 with 11k miles. When I bought her, I changed her oil filter, oil, tightened chain, and pumped the tyres up. I've done 600 miles but today I noticed she started rattling on acceleration up to about 30 mph. It's only a very quite rattle, I had to take my ear plugs out to hear it properly, and after about 30 mph it stops.

Any ideas? It's probably nothing, but I'm a little paranoid that the bike won't be safe for the roads. I'm a high enough risk as it is, with being a learner rider and all that.

Thanks

Have another look at everything you did to it if something has changed. Is the chain correctly adjusted, and is the oil level correct? Are all the nuts and bolts tightened up properly?

Thanks, I'll have a look at that.

I tightened the chain a couple of weeks ago, and checked it today too. It seems pretty tight, even possibly too tight, I don't know how tight it is supposed to be. Basically if I put my finger on the lower chain and press down, my finger will drop about 1cm.

Press the lower section of the chain up from its most slack point. There should be no more than 3cm of play on it!

Three cm shall be the number, and the number of cm shall be three. Not one nor two but three.Four is right out.

Search thee for the holy tools of Antioch and readjust the chain, lube it well and everything should be fine.Better slightly slack than too tight BTW.

Just went out and tested the chain, it has exactly 3cm slack in it. I'm thinking it needs oiling maybe.

if it does need lubing, then give it a good thorough cleaning first

I was sitting there reading the posts thinking "chain needs oiling" but you've beaten me too it. I had this a few weeks ago, a horrible rattling noise. Lubed up the chain and it's gone. I thought it was coming from the engine.
