Has anyone got experiences of using a home kit and dyeing alloy?

I checked these out too, but then discovered the price of powder coating. Getting my rear footpegs and hangers done will cost under £20 and powder coating will last longer than anodizing too.
Although it would be nice to anodize bolts and small bits myself. What were you thinking of anodizing? |

Hasn't one of the comics just done an article on this?
Will try to find it but Mrs puny has a habit of ' tidying up ' which may mean it's binned. My turn next?

Their advice was only for small stuff, so heel plates would be ok. Fair bit of nasty chemicals involved too. But you're not far from Maldon shot blasting & powder coating who did a nice job on my swingarm, side stand, etc. I'm going to take some more bits there this winter. http://www.ctc-powder-coating.co.uk/

Powder is completely different from anodising.
I think powder is probably better on cast stuff. All you need to anodise is a power supply and sulfuric acid.

Seen some nasty accidents with anodizing - but that was on an industrial scale. You still want to be careful though.
I got a sulphuric acid burn on the n*ts many years ago that was enough to put me off messing with the stuff. ![]() |
