Default When you do just what you really hate!

So it happened last night, driving back from a colleagues leaving do, in a mood, and went to overtake a car on a not overly dangerous stretch of road.
Just after passing the car, back into my lane, a motorbike came round the bend in the oncoming lane.

It was safe, and no we did not have a close call, but had I delayed 3-5secs before overtaking... ...I wouldnt even want to think of the result!

The worst thing is I was driving my car, and did an overtake that would make me swear loud enough in my helmet for pedestrians to hear!

Anyone else ever done something like this?
Feeling sick because you realise what could've just happened cus you'd been a ****ing idiot!

Confession/rant over.

Cheers all.

Why the rant? You've stated the overtake was safe and you didn't delay it. So don't think about the result of you making an unsafe overtake, that you know you wouldn't have made as you would have been too close to the corner to complete it safely!

I give you permission to stop worrying about things you didn't actually do.

The thing I do that bugs the heck out of me is exactly this, I question my decisions to an almost paranoid level. I have wondered if it is because a motorcycle is effectively a very large and dangerous toy which I am careful on or if maybe I am just feeling a bit low and doubting my confidence at times?

When I did my teacher training I learned to reflect on what I was doing it, while I was doing it. Reflecting on what you do is a valuable tool, but only if it is positive.

Ask yourself this question, would you do it again in the same circumstances? If not, you learned what you are comfortable with, if yes, maybe you are doubting yourself because of the way you felt on the night?

Don't beat yourself up too much, no one got hurt and that is the best thing.

The decision you made was the right decision based on the info you had at the time, and was proven right by the outcome, i.e. a safe overtake.

And seeing as its nearly that time, for those suffering paranoia, "its behind you."
