the old gsxr swap,
i've heard the gsxr 1100m (slingshot) model head fits straight into the SV, has anybody done this swap, or know anything about this swap onto the curvy - how much work would need to be done?, any help would be appreciated. thanks |

Yeah the bearings are the same, the lockstops and lock aren't though, so all told it's much easier to use SRAD yokes and the TWF bearing. Other advantage being that GSXR11 forks are terrible, SRAD ones are OK and can work really well with a bit of a revalve and spring too.

I was looking towards SRAD before but this offer seems great, and its for a streetfighter project so performance isn't top priority, I'd definately look SRAD and later if it was, iv got another runabout SV which seems suprisingly good on standard forks at the mo |

To be honest £300 is too much I got the whole K1 excluding wheel for £150 from a friend, front wheel was £60 for two wheels (ebay) and some excellent brand new wavy disks for £100 (ebay again).
I would have thought the GSXR 1100 is heavy where the GSXR600 RWU forks are relatively light. My whole track bike with GSXR600 RWU and 1/3 tank petrol is 153Kgs |

It is not springs that are main problem, they are easy to change, it is damping that is crap.
If you are just wanting looks, you pay more for USD, regardless of weight and performance. Lock... thing you put key into.

A friend has the 600RWU's and he likes them, but I'm not looking for performance really, a comfy ride would be nice, which the damping would come into play. I'm willing to give it a try for experience's sake, and as well as the item, I'm getting his help too, which to me is priceless. I want USD's cause they look cool and the bike is primarily to look cool, iv got my other one for practicality so things can be chopped and changed without pressure on time. I may get SRAD bits and bobs. Oh that, sorry I was thinking too complicated. Yeah I might take his column and use 2 keys, may work for security's sake too actually. The lock I guess can connect into the SV wiring. Ill be doing a big thread on it as soon as I can do something to it.

Lock is different, does not have immobiliser/anti hotwire switch in there.

looks like i've got some work to do with it then :/. at least the actual fitment shouldnt be TOO bad. i'll ask some ingenious friends for their imput. i would preferably go with SRAD, but seems for what i want i cant get it all for such a cheap price. sucks living on your own at 19 XD |

My advice is to wait and do it properly, if you have a bike that looks good you will want it to go round corners properly, or you'll have people like me laughing at you for riding like a ponce on some tarts handbag of a bike.
Spend the extra few hundred quid getting some K1> stuff, possibly not radial as the calipers go for a lot.
