Hot grips (lite?) for a 125

Hi all,

I've put the K9 away for commuting for the time being and have recommisioned the CBR125. After three winters it's time for me to invest in hot grips, but I remember the last time I looked there were hot grips for low capacity machines. Has anyone had any success fitting hot grips to a 125 or smaller? Can I fit any set of hot grips or do I need something specifically for a small bike?

Couldn't find anything under various search terms so would be grateful if anyone has any advice or can point me in the right direction?

I had a YBR 125 for a couple of years and fitted the Oxford wrap around hot grips last winter; not an issue at all, the battery was completely fine

What year was yours? I had Oxfords on my '05 YBR and could only have them on the lowest heat setting else they'd drain the battery. And lowest setting is pointless really.

Mine was a 2009; great little bike! I used the ones you wrap around the standard grips and velcro on, there was only one switch to turn it on and off, there weren't any settings with mine. When they were tured on they worked a treat, at times my hands got a little too warm and I had to turn them off!

Not sure if the batteries were different in the'05 and '09 models? Not sure why there would be such a difference.

Ah wraps, perhaps they don't draw as much from the battery as actual heated grips. I think from '06 onwards the YBR became a tad more sophisticated with a better electrical system aye, as it's not the first time I've heard of folk being able to use hot grips on them My '05 was a fantastic little runner, loved it

It's a possibility that they don't draw as much power but tbh I have absolutely no idea haha! They worked so well, was going to put them on the SV in the next few days until she broke down on Monday

Yeah the YBR is a brilliant little bike! Didn't let me down once and rode it literally everyday I owned it, sold it my mate when I bought my SV so I still see it all time Persuaded another mate to buy one so he got a 61 plate YBR the other week and I had a cheeky ride; it felt so different from my old one but I suppose that's down to me riding the SV for 7 months. It was good having a go though

Get heated gloves, they cost more but are 100 times better.

I have Oxford Hot Hands on my 07 CG and they are good, no problems at all with being able to power them.

Anyway, when you've got them on, isn't it down to how much spare power the alternator has?

I'm guessing that the only time the battery is draining is when the engine is off or at idle/below a certain RPM to generate enough power - how often is a bike going to have heated devices on, draining the battery when the bike is idling/below a certain RPM?
