K&N Filter - need to re-jet?

I'm thinking of getting a washable K&N air filter to replace the stock one because I think it will be cheaper in the long run.

I'm not intending to take out the airbox, just get a standard K&N that fits in place of the stock filter; one of these, to be precise: http://www.knfilters.co.uk/search/pr...x?Prod=SU-6503

Will I need to re-jet?

Not on a K7 as it's fuel injected!

I was gonna get a K&N air filter to replace the stock one but i read a few thread on here saying the K&N air filters for the SV make it worse and that stock are better. I ended up getting a stock air filter to be on the safe side.

At the risk of getting flamed but personally I would not ever get a K&N filter for normal road use as they are less effective at filtering than the standard one. In my opinion, for me.

How can you quote it to be 'less effective at filtering' as an opinion, surely its factual whether it filters better or worse than the standard filter . . .

the standard filter is as good as a K and N filter, the k and n does give a better induction noise though. I have one on my bike, because it had one when i bought it.
Depending on how long you are going to keep the bike for it can be cheaper. The K and N recharge kit is £15, and the filter only needs charging as often as you would change the standard filter. IIRc the standard filter is £20 or so.

Well, I'll give the K&N a go and see how it does go ...

I can always get a replacement stock one if I don't like the K&N.
