Default Curvy vs Pointy - Settled by Bike Magazine

And I quote, "...I don't think the current SV650S is a decade better, even with fuel injection, a different frame and a twin-spark head. It's not more powerful, it's not lighter, it's not better suspended or braked."

That is all

Two major updates since 1998 and still sells well. Suzuki got something right

Maybe it's not a decade better.......but it's still better.

If only they'd left out the word decade...

Suzuki updated the Sv to comply with the current emissions and gave it a more modern look. I'd say from what i've heard about the old and new Sv, they're an equal, perhaps the older Sv is more of a bargain secondhand, tho i do like my pointy!

Well. If they looked in hear .They will know upgrading one bit say front forks ,and the rear shock fairs badly in comparison.
What the bike sets out to do,it.does well.

I just think their keeping up with times. Everything is now changing to sharper designs.

Aprilia did it with their 125 range, they've done it with the Mille aswell, love the look of the Pointy but prefer the Curvy .

One thing I would like to see is an actual measurable test on the frames. To me, the real tubes of the curvy look prettier, but are they stronger or more resilient than the mechano pointy frame?

The only way to put this debate to sleep though is for us all to come together, have a big hug and then go and shout abuse at Non SV riders. Together we stand, divided we fall!

Stronger or stiffer frame isn't always a good thing. As
Rossie and Ducati found out .

Having had a pointy and a curvy (and prefering the looks of a pointy) the curvy I have is a MUCH nicer ride.

Quieter engine, smoother gearbox and goes better (although I assume this is gearing)
