I'm after some advice. I'm looking at buying a naked 04 model SV1000 which has had a 05 GSXR 750 front end fitted. From the pics I've seen it has no steering damper fitted. My question is this.
Do I need a steering damper - Will it be scary to ride without one and if I do need to fit do I need to look for a rotary type damper and what type should I look for and should I buy to fit a GSXR 750 ? Haven;t bought the bike yet but here's some pics if it helps - Looks good I must say. Your advice is much appreciated. ![]() ![]() Last edited by Jay-ninja; 07-02-12 at 09:20 AM. |

That setup won't need a damper.

Because SVs don't need them as stock, so with an improved front end, it certainly wont need one.
Why do you thing that adding a GSXR front end will make this an unstable headshake monster?

The SV is far from a front end shaking monster

No real substance to my assumption, only that the SV has a damper as stock and I assumed the reason for it's fitting was down to the V-twin power delivery and I didn't want to assume that the fitment of the Gixxer front end would change that.
However, I trust the forum opinions so feel re-assured by the response so far. Which means I could become the owner of a new SV. I already own the SV but with a stock front end...and I love it !!!! ![]() |

The old TL's and SV1000's do as they have more or less double the SV650
