Exclamation CCT rattle, is this normal or not?

Been trawling the archives over this but can't really find a definitive answer. Any way I have my bike up for sale. A guy comes round for a look and has a ride up and down my road but is worried about the rattle at on pull away at around 3-4k revs. (Any one else's rattle around those revs?)

I felt like Arthur Daley saying they all do that Sir, but every SV (curvy) I've had has had a rattle of one kind or another. This one has a definite rattle at the revs mentioned but it goes and isn't there after that. Seems to be slightly lesser once warm too? I probably haven't noticed it as I always ride with ear plugs in but after he went I rode it with no helmet on and yes its very noticeable.

I'll try resetting it today and seeing if it makes a difference but presumably they didn't do this when new? So if the sleeve inside is the culprit for causing the rattle, is it actually worn and the rattle that is something that has developed rather than always been there. Or is it just as the sleeve has worked its way out more thus giving it more play to make a more pronounced rattle?

I feel a bit edgy selling it like this. I'd hate to sell it if its about to go bang. Also the noise is presumably going to put people off and perhaps I should just buy a new tensioner for the front although I could do without spending £80 on it as a parting gift.

Thoughts?

it not a (bad) thing, mine does the same but i just choose to ignore it lol i think people have put manual tentioners on to shut the chain up, but dont hold me to it. or you could just put a loud can on it to drown out the rattle.

Just buy the 2003 pointy one for the front, as these are a better design and don't rattle as much.

Don't buy a manual one, I've seen Zadar post some horrific photos of worn out manual CCT's

But they all do that, some are worse than others

Thanks Chaps. Is there any mileage or truth in swapping front and back ones is a good idea?

According to the Alpha Sports fiche its 12830-17G00, may have been updated.

I got one new off Ebay for £10

Pity when Sv was bike of the month a few years ago they were selling them for £35

£70 at Robinsos Foundry

I believe they are about £70 from any main Suzuki dealer, I bought an updated one two years about and they were just over £60 then

Damn I would have bought a spare for £35
