OK, so treated my baby to a big workshop for over the winter for some polishing & suchlike.
Got one from Treetops in Cannock, they are on Ebay http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/steven5259...id=p4340.l2559 Link should take you to their shop, all I can say is what a top bloke. Basically you can have whatever size you want, really good build quality, they deliver all over the country & build it for you on your hardatanding as well, all inclusive in the price. 2 guys came this morning, arrived at 8am, gone by 9.10am, took them 10 mins to drink a cuppa before they went. Really really nice couple of blokes, really friendly. I am chuffed, this company well recommended. ![]() Now for some electrics & heating, I may be moving to the shed!!!! |

So, pic of the outside although I had the doors on the LH side.
real thick timbers, for the frame, 3 x 2" & the roof is not chipboard, all tounge & grove made into panels! I put a concrete base down, then asked them to build me one without a floor so the bike goes direct onto the concrete for strength & stability. Now I have to sort the electrics & heating. Camp bed already installed for when I get tired fettlin! |

Surely you need a "bunk-bed for a bunk-house", nice choice highly recommended makers.

Hi, What type of base did you make ?. I’ve been told 4“ hard core and 4” of concrete.
How far from you boundary line 12 “ or 18”, enough for you to walk around and paint. Did you need or are you going to put in guttering. I want to put one up in my garden……..

TonyK, yes about 4" concrete over hardcore, not exact though as I have a sloping site.
Got the shed builder to do it without a floor in the workshop so the walls go stright onto the concrete slab. Best for wheeling the bike in/out plus gives a solid platform for stands etc. Remember, its not a building your going to live in, so its only basics, enough room to get a paintbruch round etc. Didn't bother with guttering, I did put a heater in, woodburning stove for when its really cold, needed it before xmas as well. |

For a shed base you dont really need a hardcore base tbh, ive done loads over the years for people and never had 1 complaint ( *touches some timber
![]() A good strong mix which is tamped down will be more than strong enough for a shed / motorcycle base. You could put some mesh into the slab which will strengthrn it, but hardcore, unless done properly can have a negative effect. Defo put down a DPM under concrete, this will stop damp rising from the ground and protect the shed. You could use a 100mm polystyrene slab under it too as a thermal break but it is a shed ultimately. |
