Default A Boring Story

Went out Sunday ( planned route http://g.co/maps/vep92) had a lovely ride for the first 130 miles.
Made some proper progress, A701 in particular was terrific. Then turned towards St Marys Loch [IMG][/IMG]

Coming down the hill to the Megget reservoir I’m bumbling along taking in the superb scenery at about 40 ish (that’s why I was there). I glance at the scene then see a 4 wheel drive coming up the hill so I keep my eye on him for a couple of seconds till he pulls into the passing place then check the road. I’ve travelled a fair bit further than I thought and almost make the corner but just over run and hit a rock.

Bike front went skyward and I lost control, when the bike landed I couldn’t control it and ended in a heap on the road. It was entirely my fault for becoming fixated on cars and passing places.

As DP says any off you can walk away from...........

The family in the 4WD stopped and helped me put the bike in a farm then gave me a lift to Selkirk, they even waited to make sure I was being picked up before leaving, what lovely people. Got to the Town Arms after calling the better half. Three and a half hours (6 pints of Belhaven Best & making a few new friends) and my beloved picked me up.

Hired a van and picked the bike up yesterday, met the farmer who was very understanding, a really nice bloke.
Conditions were like this.

Bike has a bust front wheel, broken gear lever and lots of damaged plastic. It is repairable. I have made some soft tissue problems I have much worse and a few bruises. I don’t bounce as well as I once did.
Bike looks like this

Wheel is cracked almost all the way across.

So I won't be out over Easter, unless one of you lot need a pillion.

Red face Re: A Boring Story

Sorry to hear you had an off, as long as its a wee bit of bruising that's not too bad, bike can be fixed. Your way more important than bits of plastic an metal.

Belhaven Best is nice tho' !!!!! Just been drinking John Smiths - and wished they had Belhaven.

21" wheel and a knobbly that'll not happen again! Not a great look on a gixxer right enough.

Glad you are ok and you had your off in company, especially all the way out there.

Hope the two of you mend up well.

Sorry to see this Malcolm, and also relieved you haven't injured yourself too badly, although as I am aware, that 'soft tissue' is a huge concern for you Ya ninny!

Take it easy, and do as the boss says

What's this? No preaching about how to ride the road given the circumstances*?

*Not that I'm saying it's needed.
