Been scouring their site to no avail, what's the crack with flying and taking crash helmets, pref on as hand luggage?
Anyone got any recent experience? I'm 'hoping' to get away with my bag (Kreiga R25) and lid as hand luggage, if at all possible... |

One bag policy stands so your helmet will count as your allowance. You can fit it inside of another bag aslong as it fits within the metal sizing racks.
Ive got a pukka helmet bag which I use when flying with my lid. It has enough room to store my purse, passport and keys. The bag doesnt have to zip shut so aslong as you can stuff bits into it and it will fit into the measuring rack no worries, just buy something airside, get a carrier bag and put the extras into that. Have had no issues at all carrying a lid with any airline. |

I'd probably give wearing it a go!
See what they say...state your intention to security that you plan to wear it on the plane to avoid putting it in the hold or taking up baggage allowance. As long as they clear you through all you have to do it convince the easytrack lot that it is your hat. Or that you have a very severe condition which makes you vulnerable to knocks to the head. Fun experiment though.

Admittedly this is around 5 years ago so policies may have changed but I flew out from Stansted with Easyjet and took the lid as carry on along with a rucksack. Didn't have any issues

have always been fine with me taking it on as hand luggage on easyjet (even stays on my lap), they know the 50 reasons why you wish to keep it on you and know the 50 reasons you'd argue for it to be kept with you (i'll just wear it then etc etc), so ive never had trouble if anything they just start asking why its coming with me
"well beautiful airhostess, im a famous bike racer, would you like to join me at my hotel for a drink" lol ![]() p.o.n im a happily married man and would never use such tactics |
