Default K&N air filter - Pointy run lean?

I have a completely stock pointy apart from removing the snorkel. Now the time for an air filter change is coming up and I am thinking about alternatives. I don't want to remap the bike but would appreciate a bit of an extra noise. If I would fit the K&N filter, would everything be OK or would the bike start to run lean? If yes, I'd just go with the OEM one though since I'd rather not damage the engine than having a bit of extra noise and something like 0.001hp (which I don't care to be honest).

Tried to search this but couldn't really find it.

Thanks for your answers.

if your planning on keeping the bike for a few years and doing lots of miles then a K&N but otherwise a stock filter with a cut down snorkel. the stock filter should last between 15000-20000 miles sometimes more depending on the conditions.

i cut the snorkel on the ridge before the bend then smoothed it with sandpaper and it makes a lovely sound not to loud but barks when giving it beans.

i run a K&N with no problems.

I am not sure on how long I will keep it so the advantage of saving money in a long term doesn't apply to me much. But I would pay those extra few pounds if I would know that it would not run lean and would give some extra nice sound (K&N + snorkel out). Have you noticed a difference in terms of "better sound" with the K&N?

If you fancy more noise then go for the SV1000 snorkel. It's a push in replacement and adds a bit of induction noise. I tried it and reverted to standard. Personally I would keep the stock filter as I prefer filtration over replacement cost, but each to their own etc.

I fancy the noise, so I have no snorkel at all....but as weirdly as it might sound I would fancy more...

If you want more noise, fit a stubby can and take the baffle out. If you get a decent one, your ears should nearly bleed.
