How I wish I had a fuel guage....
I was on the M11 when the fuel light started flashing. There were no services anywhere on that particular stretch, yikes! If I remember correctly from the owners handbook, when it starts flashing there are 4 litres lefts and when it comes on and stays on, only 1 litre. Is that right? Silly question but how many miles would that last you for? |

that sounds about right, i know when flashing comes on you have used about 13 litres, so 4 litres left
and solid might be 2 0r 1 litre left |

depends on your fuel consumption. if it's say 55mpg then you have 45 miles before you have to push. as a rough guide yous hould be looking to fill up at 120-130 miles to be safe. every time you fill up re-set your trip counter.

Simple way to find out is keep riding, it'll eventually splutter and die. Like I found out.

...what would you do if it died on a motorway...??
what happens when it fully runs out? how quickly would you lose speed? |

It varies, but tends to start to stutter like there's an intermittent fault, then it's the same as if you'd hit the kill switch.
To be honest, you'll probably be expecting it when it happens as you'll have had a flashing light for about 20-30miles, followed by the full on light for another 10 or so. As soon as anything starts to feel wrong, it's pull the clutch in and coast to somewhere safe time! |

i can get about 160-170miles to a tank afore the light comes on and when it comes on i fill it up straight away, just keep resetting the milomoter to 0 after everyfill then i have a kinda idea as to when the light should be coming on
