Default Quick computer question...

Just trying to sort something out on my parents PC (they're not computer literate at all) and I noticed that for some reason since the last time I was up here their IE automatically opens 3 tabs when you open it like this:

Seems a bit sus to me as they can't tell me when it started happening (not something they'd particularly notice as they don't know the difference between a webpage, browser etc etc).
They have Kaspersky, which is running and doesn't show any issues, but I'd like to uninstall IE and reinstall it just incase there is something wrong (and before you ask.... yes it has to be IE rather than firefox or chrome because it's familiar to them).
Anyway, my question is this..... If I uninstall IE, how do I then re-install it as I won't have a browser to get to a page to download it? I've tried downloading it first, but I go to the IE page and it says that I already have the latest version available for this computer, so won't allow me to download anything.

Is it just because this is the latest version of IE?

Looks like these tabs are pinned, so when IE is opened it always opens these 3?

I know my Chrome does this & IE on my netbook is similar

Careful, what version of IE are you currently running.

Remember IE comes bundled with Windows, That looks like Windows 7, which comes with IE9 as standard IIRC and I'm not sure you'll be able to remove it...

This..

Those tabs are pinned,

You should be able to unpin them and just get the one homepage when opening it up

This is the standalone installer, download this first and then run the uninstall routine. Or alternatively install Chrome or Firefox on their PC before you attempt the IE uninstall as then you'll still have a working browser.

Careful again though as Chrome reads the IE settings for how to connect to the internet...

Tools>internet options>then clear all but the page you want to keep as your home page from the dialogue box at the top of the window. Click Aply and OK. Close the browser and re-open it.

Tools is the little gear wheel top right of the browser window just below the red button/white cross (close button)

Cheers Gary,

I figured that one out when I went searching through their options.

I have no idea how they would ever have managed to type three addresses in the Home Page box.

Now I have to set up a Paypal account for them.... not convinced it's a good idea, but I've been outvoted.
