Default Converting an S to a Naked?

I've read the threads that boil down to the advice 'Don't convert; sell the S and buy a naked' but...

The ratio of faired bikes for sale to nakeds seems to be about 20:1!

Is it really that hard? What are the main issues?

Just an indication of the pain involved will suffice if the details are too graphic for family viewing.

Thanks,

Mark

I Am thinking about doing the same.
I know i need a front light and instruments + front indikators, but you could just use the clipons and then you dont need longer cables.

Youd still need the other top yoke to hold your speedo etc....

Clipons and risers on a yoke will look rubbish!

If i where to Make mine a "n" i would buy a smaller speedo, so i could keep my clipons. I Think clipons look Nice on a naked.

Has he modified the top yoke? As i was under the impression the risers where cast with the yoke?

Not quiet what i ment as im a fan of the "cafe racer"" style.

No Tams has standard faired SV yokes if I remember correctly,

naked yokes do have risers, but I'm not sure if they are part of the casting or if they unbolt.

I know what you mean now

Ahhh he has a custom speedo....

If you were to use the SV speedo you need the "N" yoke (Or custome bracket)

If you want to move it to a true N (and I'm assuming curvy here, as you've not said what year) you will need:

An N swingarm (it's about 10mm longer)
A longer drive chain
Larger rear sprocket
N footpeg brackets (they're slightly lower)
Longer throttle cables
N front wiring loom
Headlight / instrument mounting brackets
Indicators
Mirrors
Front brake master cylinder
New brake lines
Instruments (hen's teeth)
Handlebars
Top Yoke
Handle bar clamps
Radiator (doesn't have mounting lugs for fairing)
Possibly "N" clutch and choke cables

So the question is "What do you want to change and why?"

You can fit higher bars with less kit than that, you can make it naked with less kit than that, but you'd need all that, and maybe more that I've forgotten to make it up to a genuine "SV650" spec rather than "SV650S"
