Default Insurance mini-rant

Bike is sold and gone now, so I dutifully called my insurer up to tell them this.

As I have a month and four days left, I get no refund for unused insurance as it's less than the admin charge.
As I have more than a month left, this year doesn't get counted towards my NCB.
As I have more than a month left, they can't just let it run out on its own.

"I shouldn't have bothered calling you, should I?" I told that nasal slag on the other end of the phone. Bikesure, if anyone's curious.

When I sold my Kwak I just let it run out as I knew there was only 1 month left, like you say they are w*****s and will do anything to get out of giving you any money back.

Because insurance companies are money robbing basta*ds!
I looked up at insurance quote on my simple 50cc moped just for socializing and pleasure. I got the cheapest quote at £700 TPO. Its ridiculous.

But in your position I would of wanted a refund.

Lesson learned, know what they are going to say before you ring them.

Don't give them an inch.

You are always "thinking of doing X" not "I have done X" then if you like the answer go ahead with it if not you have options.

Does not matter what insurer, bikesure have actually been ace with me... have SV policy, needed one for the XJ, they were cheapest... come renewal time on XJ, still cheapest.

Reg number was wrong on XJ, insurance certificate with frame number to re-register it, no problem, insurance certificate with new reg number... no problem... Letter with confirmation of cover including all mods on SV... dead easy.

One of best ones I have found... however you still have to be very careful with dealing with any insurer. Know when you can avoid saying something, once you've told them something they have to act on it but you can ask what you want.

Yes, that sounds like good advice.

LMAO... nasal slag.

If it's any consolation I'm having a nightmare with my previous insurer at the minute as someone apparently claimed against me last year - it's the first I've heard of it now. Joy of joys.

I hate insurance as much as the next person but im also with bikesure.

What they have said to you sounds very similar to what they said to me about when i changed. Basically what they tried explain to me was that if you have paid all your insurance off in one go at the start of your policy you can't get it back or something along those lines whereas if you were paying monthly instalments they would just stop it and cancel your payments.

Always seems like your being mug of your money but from my exeprience with them they are very honest and fair in their prices.

I Changed my SV650 for a GSXR 600 K6 and on 3rdparty fire/theft and excluding commuting to college i got it for £500 so for all the pain of changing bikes and insurance stuff i've still got a great deal. fyi im only 19 years old.

I left a policy running for six months once just to claim the bonus.

Well, I won't have money for a bike (especially as back home you can only use it for about half the year anyway) for a while anyway but being Catch 22 screwed like this is still annoying.

A guy in work has offered to let me put down his SORN'd CB500 on my policy... an interesting suggestion but given I said I was leaving the country I think they'd figure out what I was up to and win anyway.
