Question Race take off tyres- Readilly available?

Hello peeps.

Myself and my trackday buddy WILL DEFINITELY have two track SVs sorted for next year (so help me God) and I was wondering how often race take off tyres become available (during the season), how many races people generally use them for and their suitability for trackday tyres ranging from Novice to Expert group.

Anything other info you can share would also be appreciated such as rough prices and what tyres people are using.

Thanking you kindly.

I buy practise tyres from 675 BSB and they do 6 laps tops on them.

However a friend/racer of mine will run 1 set for test/qualifying/race and he does well! However that is at club level.

Get to the meetings between now and November. People will be clearing out scrubs (more tinkering space) and they'll be little bit cheaper. I'm guessing your running 160 rears

The front runners with cash every 10 laps or so. Mid packs back use scrubs of the front runners.
£60 was the going rate last time I was at a club meeting if any were kicking round as a few are running them to worn out (for track work).

You normally can get a good supply of scrubs during the season. I get mine from eBay from the BSB gear link Kawasaki guys. Normally done around 14 laps or so. Still perfectly good for four trackdays.

Though the sv is a 160 rear which makes it a fair bit more rare.

It's quite unlikely I'll be able to go to any racing this year.

I guess your best chance to get 160 rear is either 250 or supermono racers.

Unlikely to see many 250's now most are in forgotten era/ classics and most run race slicks (if there's any racing). Supermono's are rare too

But race slicks are good enough for us mortals. For a race new threaded slicks are just as good if not better than used race slicks, so they should be good enough to use for practice and such.
