Now I'm hitched I'm finally taking a real interest in money matters for the future.
Can someone who knows spreadsheets and has a few minutes to spare please look at mine and see if it all looks like it works ok and if there is anything I may have forgotten to include. It took me about 5 hours of head scratching to get to this point. Thanks. It's a dropbox file so should be safe. BTW the numbers are fictional and the coloured sections should change the other results. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/111369957/test.xls Last edited by monkey; 08-10-12 at 10:47 PM. |

I presume that .xlr is a Microsoft Works spreadsheet file? I cant open it to view, Works is not widely used, you may get more success by saving in a more popular file format. Perhaps .xls or .xlsx (Excel) or Open Document format (.odf or ods)

If this is a budget spreadsheet - this might've saved you a fair bit of bother...

Thanks James but I've tried a few online things before and I haven't found them all that easy to use.

Hi, just had a look,
A23, A24 and B23/24 might make more if they were swapped around? B28, where is there a E23*100, ie where does that $50 comes from? I assume its that extra 100 per month for misc? Also might want to include a total payments(savings) + outgoing (flat, expenses) + spending money to see whether the maths adds up. |

Btw, does the "payment to joint household account" include the "total outgoing for flat"?
I assume if the numbers put in are correct, then you are running into deficit. Income: 24K Outgoing: 13.2K (Payments to joint household account) + 7.2K (total joing savings) + 4.8K (spending money) = 25.2K The issue is from the extra $100 per month for misc, which adds up as the extra $1200 in outgoing. |

I think I've ironed out all of the wrinkles.
The additional payment isn't included in the outgoings box, it's just a little bit extra I'd like us to put in for unknown household things we might need or indeed just a little breathing space. Here's the latest: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/111369957/test.xls |
