Talking Afternoon all!

Just signed up to this sight and so far it's looking pretty good! I can see myself spending a few hours on here just reading through stuff

I'm a female rider and bought my gorgeous silver SV650S K4 yesterday! Unfortunately picked up a puncture when it was being ridden back so I've not has a go on it yet!

Will be taking it out after work (yes I know I should be working!) and I'm quite nervous. I've passed my test last year and I've been on a GPZ500 since then. The riding position on the SV is SO different I'm a bit worried I might **** it up!

Any tips?
And don't say "Don't fall off"...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Well "do fall off" would be terrible advice so. I'll say nothing on that score.

Welcome and enjoy there's a great bunch of folks here (if you can find them among the assorted miscreants and ne'er-do-wells of course)

I don't have any bike specific advice but having a new bike myself (that has been universally acclaimed as too big for me) I'll recommend relaxing. The tenser you are the worse you'll ride so keep calm, take it in your stride and you'll be fine.

This is true... good advice!

Thanks for the welcome I've been reading a few posts and everyone seems pretty cool!

I will try and relax as much as I can (not too much though, dont want to slide off it!) I'm really excited about riding it so I'm not sure how relaxed I'll be!

Welcome! Where abouts are you? May find a few local people heading out on rides before it gets too cold and everyone hibernates for the winter. Unless you are near Guildford, then you will have Thunderace to ride with all year!

Basically if you're anywhere near Guildford you will be surrounded by manyfine strapping young men who ride all year, telling incredible jokes, and basically put the GRRRRRRRRR in bikerrr ... bikegrrrrr. Hmmm ..... I'll get my presidential gown.

Oh welcome btw. Sensible SV advice:
- Keep your head up!
- Slip the clutch on that SV on low speed corners/junctions (bouncy throttle response without clutch)
- No wheelies on purpose (accidental ones are allowed)

How Dooo!!!

With riding position, get on the bike in bike gear and have a feel where the controls are. The clutch, gear shift and brakes can all be adjusted
