Hi All,
My '99 curvy is becoming temperamental. When returning to the bike after refuelling the gear lever is occasionally very stiff and hard to shift 1st to 2nd and to a lesser extent 2nd to 3rd. Before stopping it shifts fine and after about 5 minutes of poor shifting it's totally smooth again. The oil level and chain free play are spot on and I've gone through Sid Squid's excellent clutch adjustment guide so I'm wondering if it's something with the plates or the basket that could be the cause. Has anybody had a similarly erratic issue or know of a simple solution? |

was gonna suggest the oil thing as soon as i saw this, but you say you've already checked this etc. so you're going a bit far past my knowledge. so suggestion would be a PM to the holy squiddly man if you're in a desperate rush. otherwise there'll be someone with far greater knowledge than me around sometime later on today.

Lube the gear lever where it pivots round the footrest. This gets crudded upand causes poor shifting.

The first thing I'd do is follow Biggles advice, it is by far the least invasive and easiest thing to check. Particularly as the symptoms are a bit odd the best thing would be to make sure all the simple, obvious stuff is right first.

Thanks for the tips. Will strip down the gear lever and see if that cures it before looking at the clutch when the next oil change is due.
Strangely when I went to get a new set of PR3's fitted today it was problem free, weird. |
