Transport Scotland has or is reviewing speed limits on Scottish Roads.

Looks like it is a massive stretch of the A85 from Crieff right over. That's one of the roads I quite liked too.
![]() I notice that they also have recommendations for speed limit increases in some 23 or so locations which they are not going to put through for approval. Funny that. Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk

So, do/can we appeal or oppose this nonsense?

Good luck on any appeal. I've been noting an increase in 50 limits all over the place in Bucks and Oxon which really limits the fun - several scamera vans about this area so you have to be sensible.

Some of these roads don't need it... Looking at it from an IAM point of view it will make these stretches of road more dangerous as overtake will become more difficult causing more frustration. Which has a knock on effect. Its so negative if you ask me.

after the A34 in the Midlands from Solihull to Stratford Upon Avon was switched to 50mph, a journalist made a freedom of information request and revealed that there had been significantly more accidents where speed was estimated at 50mph, than those at 60 or even those over the limit
what it showed was that the drivers doing 50 were all those who were asleep and not aware of their surroundings reducing speed is a way of coping with a reduction in driver ability and bad road design, it will drop driver ability further and we'll end up dropping it to 40mph in 10 years time the government are chasing a 'zero' accident rate, which just isn't possible whilst you have a human being behind the wheel its also a way of getting people out of cars and onto public transport as the car no longer becomes faster and easier |

Can we? Yes.
Do we? F*ck yes! Of course we're all already members of MAG or the BMF or both, of course we are, so start there. Next, angry email to this address: speedlimitreview@transportscotland.gsi.gov.uk Same letter to your MP, MSP, MEP and if you live in the right area, local councillor. Maybe it'll help maybe it wont, but don't you dare do nothing and then p*ss and moan about it later. |

Fairly simple jobby if anyone wishes to copy and paste:
To whom it may concern, With regards to the proposed changes to speed limits up and down the country, (as detailed here http://www.transportscotland.gov.uk/...eview/outcomes) I'd like to know who on earth decided this is a sensible idea? Looking at this from the perspective of a motorcyclist, lowering the speed limit on almost all of these roads (specifically those going from 60mph to 50mph) will make each stretch of road far more dangerous as overtaking will immediately become more difficult, causing more frustration. Which in itself has a knock on effect. Can you please let me know how and to whom I can file an objection to these proposals? Best regards, JamesMio My Address No Hate Mail, Thanks CH3 3RS |
