Hi all I have a leaking fork seal.
This is not a job I can do myself as I do not have anywhere or the know how to do it I am mechanically minded but lack of space is a big problem. So how much should I expect to be charged to supply and fit a new set of seals. I know that different places will charge different amounts but im after a ruff idea please. Also is it ok to still ride??? As I use it for work and need to use it for a while before getting it fixed. Many thanks. Last edited by disco2; 25-04-13 at 05:24 PM. |

Id guess somewhere around £80-100 although not had it done myself. After all its gona cost them 1l of oil, the seals and then the labour. As for riding well its going to be a problem if its leaking alot if it gets on the disc n pads, otherwise youll just slowly change the suspension up front but i imagine it would have to be a pretty bad leak to get to that soon.

I always fit genuine seals and, if flush enough, dust seals. Always do the pair aswell. £100 for the pair inc seals sounds about right as the seals can be 15-25 the pair and fork oil is about £10/l.
There is one place in Southend I can recommend but you have to prebook the work really. I can lend you a front headstock stand if you wanted to strip the forks out yourself and make it cheaper by just handing over the forks rather than a ride in ride out job? Recetly did the set on my FZR250 after bursting one on a big pothole on Sutton road ![]() Chris
