Hi,
Just picked up my new bike on Tuesday and love it so far but there are a couple of bits i need to sort out on it, I will list below and i hope with the vast amount of knowledge on this forum i will soon learn from the best! lol BTW it is a 04 model which from what i've heard is a K4?!?! correct me if i'm wrong please lol 1) Speedo is very temperamental some times it will show up correct then suddenly go to 0 MPH which is very annoying, I have heard this should be a Speedo Rotor (part no. 34983-21E00) and is quite easy to change? 2) Went for a 3 hour ride last night with my brother and a few friends and noticed after a few hours my legs were really aching because of the high foot pegs, Is there a cheap and effective way to lower the foot pegs by a inch or so to make longer riding a bit more comfortable? 3) Exhaust's ?!?!?! Looking to spend no more than around £100 , What ones should i be looking at for this bike? 4) The pass light switch doesnt seem to be working either, but the Main & Dip beam both work on the switch ? Is this an easy fix? 5) Headlight bulbs?!?!? Do i upgrade just the bulbs or does it warrent upgrading to a HID kit? Any of tweaks or mods that you would feel worth doing please let me know ![]() Mason ![]() Last edited by mase_tw; 03-05-13 at 10:24 AM. |

Welcome, can help on a couple of those.
1) Sounds very much like thats your problem, see this thread for some more advice http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=197893 3) Loads of options on this but for £100 or less depending on exhaust type you can't go far wrong with Danmoto (paid just over £80 delivered for mine) http://www.dan-moto.com/DM_INT/sv-65...18_20_120.html 5) Was going to upgrade to HID myself but was put off due to the SV light unit not really being suitable, can scatter the light rather than direct it properly. Also, possible worries at MOT time. Many have done it though so don't let me put you off. A good compromise would be just changing the bulbs. Osram Nightbreakers can be had for about £12 on eBay. 1) Yes, the rotors are fragile and can be broken while changing tyres.
2) Search for Buell Pegs or peg lowering plates, quite a few threads. 3) At £100 you are looking at a second hand can - keep an eye out in the for sale section. 4) Faulty switch, damaged or disconnected wiring. Multimeter and a wirign diagram will be your friends here. 5) Stick a set of decent bulbs in - Osram Nightbreakers are what I usually fit to any new vehicle. I'm not a fan of non factory HID kit. And Welcome! |

Are the bulbs just standard H4 type? Danmoto exhaust is probably the way i will go... Couldnt find any lowering peg plates, where could i source these from? and how much roughly? Ordering the rotor today so hopefully will be here by next week!

I have Buell pegs which drop the foot pegs about an inch - much more comfortable.
Upgrade the standard H4 bulbs to super bright ones ( I use Halfords Extreme Brilliance) and consider a headlight relay loom as this ups the light output even more. Amy exhaust will do, it just changes the noise and looks.

The best version! Reason for asking, didn't I see somewhere that the naked version has lower pegs? Maybe an easier swap that completely different parts?
