Clever enough to (almost) avoid prosecution, but not clever enough to not boast about it. Serves him right.

Yep, easy to forget everything you say on these types of forum is available to anyone who wants to search. Not sure I have too much sympathy with this guy though but even innocent postings can look bad in the work enviroment

That's very true.

A couple of years ago I was pulled up in work for liking the wrong comment on Facebook.

Got to be careful...

Big brother is alive and well.
I cant help thinking polis time could be better spent tracking down real criminals though, rather than t0ssers who brag on tinternet about speeding and parking tickets.
Reminds me of the old saying-----If you cant catch real criminals then make criminals out of those you can catch.
Sorry for the cynicism. Its been that sort of week.

BB,

I agree about police time being used for this sounds a waste, and I'm only able to speculate from my own employers point of view.

I don't know who within GMP would even be able to access bulletin boards and forums in relation to such offences. I know who deals with the summonses generated by the camera vans and the "iffy" cases. Most are time served cops with only a few years service left who generally have spent a lot of time in the traffic world. They wouldn't be out on the streets anyway due to age, injury or just winding down to retirement. But to find him in the vast, Earth encompassing mess that is the world wide web, seems almost too much of a coincidence to bear.

I suspect a tip was passed.

He hasn't been gaoled for the speeding, he has for the criminal offences of perverting the course of justice.

Pete

My thought is that it's more likely that his comments were spotted by a copper who happens to frequent biking forums, and were passed on to whoever handled the case.
