So after yesterdays ride and 300 miles under my belt I was about 5 or 6 miles from home, riding down the M62. The bike suddenly jumped out of gear and after a few failed attempts to get it into 4th I coasted down the slip road, Junction 32.
Parked up on the roundabout as it wouldn't really roll freely even in neutral (a bad sign i presume). ![]() Several bikers stopped, including a farmer on a CBR that must have been well into his late 60's early 70's to check I was o.k, a few car drivers too. One guy even came back in his car after putting his bike away to offer a hand. But, the RAC had been called and I told them it was a recovery only, no hope of fixing. I'd already played with the clutch cable etc but to no avail. Anyways, what I wasn't expecting was a red Seat, two lads in the front, two lasses in the back, all aged 17ish to stop and say 'You alright mate? you've been here ages!', 'I'm a bit hungry' I said. Then they offered to go buy me some food which made me smile but i said no i was only joking really. So. Mr RAC turns up 3 hours later and gets a spanner out, touches the clutch cable once or twice and comes up with the conclusion that i need recovering, D'oh! So off he trots and once again i'm sat waiting. So who should turn up again? the youths in the Seat brandishing a maccy d's bag and cup of coke, 'We got you some food ![]() I pop over to chat to him and I'm thinking, I'm sure I know this kid, then when he mentions having an SV....'Are you Joe, Joe Marcon?' yep, the legend lives on! So with the Seat on it's way me and good old Joe get the bike on the towtruck which turned up 5 minutes later. Cheers Joe and the random car of good samaritans, and everyone else who stopped ![]() Last edited by tactcom7; 20-05-13 at 05:07 PM. |

Cool
Similar thing happened to me years ago after getting a rear wheel puncture. Waiting for the recovery truck some old gent bought me a cup of tea. Best bone china too, and not a mug, but a cup & saucer. I wasn't a pretty sight, as I'd been to a rally, so unwashed for the weekend, tired etc etc Some folk aren't as bad as we think they are

Ha! Excellent, I'm always surprised when the YOOF OF TODAY somehow pulls through!
When I came off my 125 last year no git stopped despite there being a lay-by 10m down the road. Then a spotty yoof from the McD's opposite turned up to see if I was OK and offer some free food! It does happen sometimes ![]() |

Yep, definitely a win for the youth of today. Now if only i knew something about fixing clutches/gearboxes...
![]() P.S i did forget to add that two cop cars stopped as well, with one of them even commenting 'didn't that get nicked a while back?', good memories the fuzz ![]() Last edited by tactcom7; 20-05-13 at 08:03 PM. |
