Recently installed a trailtech dash on the bike, ironically wired up the idiot lights backwards and fried my flasher relay.
replaced the relay. turned the key , lights up as normal, but oil pressure light does not go off. Does not prime, turns over but does not start... The oil pressure light and the fuel light share a positive lead (they are both operated by switches on the negative side) the wiring diagram that i used has extra resistors in place to use LED's instead of incads, i am using incads so they are not there. It also has a diode between the fuel and oil warning lights. I do not have this diode in place because i did not use the "very low" fuel light, only the "low" do you think this is related to not having that diode in place? I have just capped off the spare wires , do i need to loop any of them ? ![]() |

I think it's one of the safety switches preventing it from starting (hence no prime) As bib says, check side stand and clutch

i have been doing a bit of digging around and from what i can gather with the quick googlefoo is that the general consensus is don't fit one to a pointy.
from what i have gathered you cant just use the harness connected to the original cluster due to it reporting back to the ECU for certain things. now IIRR you can start a pointy with the gauge cluster disconnected from the bike, this is the good news the bad news and from what i have been reading, if you want the idiot lights to work properly and the bike to run you have to take a direct feed from the item you want to use such as the fuel light but you also have to use resistors for the LED's to function properly. all the information i have looked at is a bit vague and there seems to be definite 'how to' guide. |

Two blown fuses... what an idiot...
starts and runs fine.. high beam , oil pressure and neutral all work, and the two extra LED's that i wired up for indicator warnings all work. The fuel light i won't know about until fuel is low, as far as i know the stock fuel warning light comes on at start-up as a test , but its not related to the operation of the warning light in the same way the oil pressure light is.. i.e. there is no oil pressure when the bike is stopped so the oil pressure light is on until you start. thanks as always for the quick responses. |
