Default Police don't win any support with things like this...

Coming home this afternoon and going uphill away from a village, the village has speed humps, two policewomen had hid their car behind this bush and were pointing their camera up the hill, following my direction but intending to get drivers coming down the hill.

Screen snap from google street...

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en...53.85,,0,14.25
The annoying thing about this is, at the top of the hill is a school with speed humps outside, then it goes into nothing before coming in to the village so most people do 40 along here but slow down as they come in to the village as there are speed humps almost right behind where these policewomen were.

This is nothing to do with road safety or speed reduction, this is purely to catch as many as possible to generate some cash.

I get your point, but it's a bit of an assumption. They could have been asked to do something by the school. Not all drivers slow down that much for speed bumps and some like to speed up a lot in between.

They shouldn't conceal themselves, but that's the only issue I'd have with this.

really? I thought that was what they were there for, see how fast you can go in between them then slow down really quickly, then speed up ... and so it goes on...

Nope, the speed humps outside the secondary school are massive, go over them fast and you will do damage or get air or both, plus it's probably 1/3 mile away from where these super crime fighters were.

Would you prefer they stood in plain sight and maybe put signs up down the road to tell people they were there so they caught no one and deterred no one from speeding? Most of the time (round here)they put speed traps out in response to speeding complaints.

break the law pay the price, I've got 9 points and you don't hear me whinging.

I have to say I agree somewhat with Spank! If your travelling within the speed limit what do you have to worry about!

Did you stop and watch what they were doing, did you consider asking them? Is it possible they were doing something else?
Reason I ask is that there are a few "operational" abnormalities that would tend to indicate it would be unlikely they were carrying out a pre-planned speed check in the manner you describe. It is possible that they were part of a "speed watch" programme which is more about raising public awareness rather than seeking prosecutions. What car were they using?

I'm with Spank, if you don't like the idea of being caught don't speed.
