Default Any members familiar with Brightlingsea....

And the surrounding areas?
After 9 years we're coming back from Sweden and looking around that area. Specificaly Brightlingsea, but would love to hear about any nearby areas from anyone that knows.
Thanks!

What you want to know?

PM Messie or Dicky Ticker, they're the only ones I know that live in that area.

Hi! thanks for the tip.
I was just after general information really, like any areas to avoid, a strong smell of sulphur in the town from the nearby chemical plant, free beer on Fridays for anyone in a certain postcode range (what would that do to house prices I wonder??).
What's the job scene like? Good supermarkets? Nice beaches?
Anything really, it's them that lives there that have the best information!
Obviously we'll be visiting before we commit to an area!

Brightlingsea, chemical plant? perish the thought!!!

Worst smell is the mud at low tide.

Its a picturesque seaside town, not like St Ostyh its near neighbour, which does have a bad reputation. That's the town, not the seafront, which is very nice

Nice pub in the town near the harbour, the only thing I know of that's negative about the the harbour is what the docks are doing which is either scrap metal or some sort of wood. But discharge of cargo only happens during daylight hours

But its a small operation & the bulk of the traffic is yachts and fishing boats.

Nice beaches as far as I remember

Job wise Colchester is close for main employment & supermarkets.

I haven't been there for a while, so I can't say what its like now, but I can't think it will have changed that much.

I can think of worse places to live in the area, Frinton, Jaywick, Clacton, St Osyth.

PM Dicky Ticker & Messie for more up to date knowledge.
