Default Question for those in blue/ in the know

Ok, so my sister has shared a "story" on facebook which has done the rounds before.

Now I am a sceptic so wondered if there is ANY legitimacy to ANY of this. Unfortunately I can't copy it so will have to paraphrase.

The gist of it is:

Woman is driving down the motorway when an unmarked car flashes his blues to pull her over.

She recalls an anecdote from her family that you should only pull over in services or a busy area. So she calls 112 and says to the operator that she is being flashed by an unmarked and will stop at the next services.

At this point the operator says he will check what cars are in the area. He then tells her to keep driving, remain calm and that back up is on the way.

Some time (10 mins apparently) later 4 cars turn up, 1 pulls up next to her and 3 surround the unmarked and pull them both over.

They then proceed to rip the guy from the car and cuff him.

It turns out the guy in the unmarked is a convicted rapist and is wanted in connection with other crimes.

The "moral" of the story and is given as explicit advise is that you DO NOT have to pull over for an unmarked car.

Now as I said this doesn't sit right with me, firstly surely she would have been done for using her phone while driving, secondly, the statement that you DO NOT have to pull over for an unmarked and lastly the fact that this story has done the rounds before on Facebook and email etc mostly the same and all from friends who experienced it.

Is it all BS? Surely if it was a legit unmarked you would get done for failing to stop?

Ta

Edit:
Just re read it and it says you have to acknowledge them by putting on your hazards or calling 112 but they have to respect your right to stop in a 'safe' place.

Apparently 999 doesn't work if you have no signal but 112 does. In fairly that sure bit is BS.

'except in dangerous/life threatening circumstance' as far as phone/driving concerned.........
Unmarked car??? Surely a Woman on her own must have 'discrepancy' on her side??!!??
Several occasions I've 'ignored' even marked Police vehicles "until I reach a safe place to stop"....... Sure I get a 'snotty' response but fast single carriage A road/long sweeping bend??? The bus stop 1.5 miles up the road is 'somewhat safer'.......

Fair one on the phone bit.

Apologies I don't think I made it too clear, I am all for it if it is legit. I'm pretty sure the actual post is BS as it's done the rounds before with minor changes.

I whole heartedly agree that a woman on her own should get special consideration.

I really want to know if the advice is correct re not having to stop and being ok with calling and driving.

I have 2 sisters both of which have occasion to travel on their own in the cars or with children (including my niece and nephew). So if it is legit I will happily let them know. I just don't want them to be victim of a scam/spoof story that gets them in to further trouble.

I reckon the police would probably turn up and arrest her for using a phone whilst driving.

Post is BS, advice is semi legit IMHO. You are required to stop in a safe place, not to immediately slam the brakes on wherever you are. You're also if I remember correctly not supposed to break the law doing so.

I'd tell your sisters to lock the door, crack the window and ask for ID once stopped. Then check the ID with 999 or 101 or whatever.

I suppose it depends if they've done anything wrong or not really.
