Question Bike reversed into, fork seal gone - coincidence?

OK, someone reversed into the right hand side of my SV yesterday and marked the side fairing deeply enough that it's going to need re-spraying. He's offered to pay so that's fine.
The thing is that the right hand fork seal has just gone - is there any way that this could be connected to him hitting the side of the bike? It's just such a weird co-incidence otherwise but we can't work out if there's any way he's caused it - suggestions gratefully received!

Did it fall over?If so there could be related damage elsewhere.or it may have been that hard landing from trhe wheely you did yesterday---------?

Doubtful that they're connected, possibly been weeping for a while, your closer examination post damage is the first time you've noticed it.

Maybe.
