Curvy non starter.

ive posted on here a few times about my sv. i got it MOT'd on a friday and they said it ran perfect, it rode awful with stock exhaust but when i put my skorpion can on with no baffle it ran sweet as for the whole weekend. on the following tuesday i rode it and it started backfiring constantly. after a few mins i tried to start it again but it constinued to backfire. now the bike is cold it wont start, it will turn over and sound like it wants to go but wont. this happened before but i thought it was other issues so i replaced, plugs, HT leads, HT caps, ignition coils and i cleaned the carbs twice and it seemed to work after being stored over the winter on an optimiser. could it be the rectifier or battery not giving a strong enough spark or no spark?

Any advice would help.

Hi mate, I aint no expert but I'll try give some help.

I had this problem and a new battery fixed it. Tested the rectifier and it was working spot on, I suggest you charge the battery, put back on bike, try to start it and if it does, check the charging voltage and if its above 13 volts then it probably is your rectifier, if its fine, ride the bike normally and if it dies, replace the battery with a motobatt one (never had problems with those, ever). If it still doesnt fix it, all i can think of is it needs rejetted now you have a new exhaust and some redex when you fill up to clean the carbs and petrol tap out.
