Default Have I been driving too long?

Hi Guys,

I am so new to all of this (and rapidly becoming obsessed!) that I don't even know if this is a stupid question or not.

Can you get a clock (after market or genuine) for the K2 SV?

Thanks
Sean

Probably - I have asked for one for my rapidly-approaching birthday and suggested a bicycle 'computer' as the best/cheapest approach. Sure, it won't have a back light for night use, but that's not a problem for me. However, as bike computers tend to mount onto handlebars, mounting one will require some creative thinking/bodging unless you have a naked bike.

There are quite a number of clocks that can be stuck on bikes, varying from quite expensive aluminium analogue clocks, to cheap digital ones.
I used to have a cheap digital one stuck on with a piece of velcro which worked fine, but when the cold weather came along, the display used to disappear !

Bike computer sounds a good idea - that way it'll be waterproof

might be more complicated than you want, but I have a Honda Deauville with quite a nice backlit LCD clock which I've thought about putting onto the SV.
They are £20 from David Silver Spares, which seems reasonable for a genuine Honda part (at least it will be pretty reliable).

It comes as a separate clock display circuit board (something like 35mm x 20mm or thereabouts) and a flying lead to a 2 button setting board (H+M).

I think there are just 3 wires, permanent feed, earth, and lights for the backlit function. It'd need mounting in some sort of panel or mini component box (Maplins etc).

I had one of the cheap plastic digi ones on the Virago, it was the worst fake carbon effect as well, so that fitted the cruiser look But it broke the first time I left the bike out overnight, and never kept good dtime after.

I've got a nice wee analogue one with a good lumi dial on the SV, I got it free when I subscribed to RiDE (I think) but I think those ones are £25 each. Motrax sell very similiar ones. Check out Hein Gericke as well, they've got some nice trick chrome ones which can mount onto round bars.

I want more stuff on my bike... thermometer, and compass mainly. Or GPS...

Dan's got GPS fitted to his - looks very impressive with its little map on the display. Shame he has to take it off pdq when it rains

If I could get some sort of tracer and fit it to Scooby Drew or Nutty's bikes, it wouldn't matter that I always get left behind on the rideouts And I want a Veypor as well. And that HUD when it comes out. But then there'll be nowhere for me to sit

I got a watch from Argos for £6.99 and araldited it to the square bit on the left hand bar. It's cheap, waterproof and has a front button operated "lumiglo" display.

Popular choice... How well does it stand up to winter weather? LCDs screens tend to act up unless purpose designed for outside mounting...
