Default Valuation advice for my bike

This isnt in for sale as I'm currently asking advice and it will be a month or so yet (December anticipated, I'll have a years NCB by then (fingers crossed )).

I'm afraid she's for the chop

What I want is advice on value, as I have absolutely no idea. I need to balance off private sale vs trading her.

The details are:

SV650SK3 Blue. 6500miles. Dec 2003 registered new. Full Suzuki FSH. Balance of warranty.

New rear tyre.

Extras, pref. to go with bike:
Silver Iridium DB screen
Poly26 bellypan
Suzuki seat cowl
Clear lenses
R&G crash bungs
E-bay tail tidy
Specially made slightly smaller Suzuki number plate
Blue-flame Evo T3 removable baffle reverse coloured can
De-stickered
(all stock parts incl. can go with bike fi sold with extras).

Downs-
One or two very minor scratches, small scrape on mirror and bung on one side (zero speed slow drop). Thats the fine toothcomb stuff. Under the can hanger the colour has rubbed off (problem now sorted, new hanger). The hanger conceals 95% of this, its not noticeable. As you know its virtually immaculate...would I ride anything less

Pics are at:

PLEASE no offers for parts etc. When she goes I'd like her to go as is. If this doesn't happen I'll let you know in due course.

I will be very sad to sell my first bike, but pastures new beckon, as discussed on here at lenght

Selling in december will affect the price you'd get.... would think somewhere between £3500 and £4000....

You looking at something else or what ?

A great looking machine even if it is a slower colour.

Selling a fully loaded bike in December doesn't make financial sense at all. Why not hold off until spring and then sell the bike and accessories separately to maximise your sale price.

Even better, get a bridging loan and buy your new toy in the middle of winter at a knock down price.

I think the 2 best options would be either:

sell the bike in December as standard for £3500 and the can, screen, poly etc for another £300.

OR

sell the lot in spring for £3700?

I'll give you £100 for the screen, pan and cowl for example

If you sell in Spring, you'll get about £3650 for her (with all the bits!) If you strip her down & re-standardise her then you'll get about £3400, but then you can gain more cash selling off the bits either through eBay or on here

When the time comes, I'll strip mine down & return her to near standard (I cut the undertray to fit Powerbronze one ) & sell parts for more dosh

If you decide to trade it in I would return it to standard as much as possible , and sell the parts separately. When i traded my old bike in the dealer told me as much. The trade in price will only really reflect age , condition and mileage, though you might be able to use the extras as a lever. Depends really on how much he wants to get rid of whatever you are thinking of buying.

When I sold my SV650SK03 in May, I had lots of extra's including Remus Titanium end can, R&G bungs, Ermax undertray, Ohlin's suspension, new Metz Sportec M1 tyres, braided HEL lines and Datatool 3 alarm and still only got £4000 from a private buyer. That's was with 6000 miles and FSH. If someone offers £3500 you are getting a good price. Trade in price depends on what you buying/discounting. Suzuki dealer offered my GSXR600K4 for £5995 but would only give me £2700 for SV. I ended up getting my mates GSXR600K02 for the same money (£4000) as I sold the SV for. Bargain! However, I just found out I have a £2400 bill waiting for me when I pick up the bike tomorrow as I had a couple of 'extras' added Maybe bargain isn't the word!

Rich,

The advice to return your bike to standard is very sound. Dealers and private buyers alike prefer standard bikes.

Sell the extras separately.

I agree in general although my bike sold purely because it had Ohlins and a race can on as the bloke was taking part in the Mini Twin series. If trading in, bring the bike back to basic, but if selling private, give the buyer the option of standard or with the bits on for a premium (they are likely to want them once seen). It's less hassle if you can sell it as one and you wont be left with bits you no longer want.
